Best eBike Helmets

There are two helmet brands that we really like. SENA and SMITH. Both are great helmets and both are very different. So we created this page to help you learn about each. Its Important to know neither of these helmets are eBike rated. But there are very few that have adapted the ebike rating standard created by the Dutch.

SENA helmets have communication technology built in. Its what we use as a family and also many of my riding friends use. It allows us to more easily communicate which makes riding so much more fun.

If you considering a SENA helmet be aware that they have multiple models and two different methods of communicating and these technologies are not compatible with each other. First, some helmets use Bluetooth to communicate while others use the MESH network. One will not communicate with the other so make sure the helmets you purchase use the same technology.

I prefer MESH. Its an open network that will communicate with any device that uses it. Its simple to use and no need for a smartphone app.

Our preferred helmets are the M1 EVO and the R2 EVO. The M1 is a mountain bike style of helmet with a protruding visor built in. The R2 is more of a road cycling helmet. Both are comfortable and have been durable even after a couple of ebike accidents.
